Fire up the WWE Network, look back to Goldberg's 2003-04 run in the company and it's still plain to see that he never felt welcome in McMahon land. Bill's return in 2017 was all about two things: firstly, Goldberg wanted his young son to see him wrestle. Secondly, he wished to right the wrongs of his previous stint.

WWE fans who never paid much attention to WCW didn't get to see the best of Goldberg during that first spell over a decade ago. In 2017, they did, because WWE went about the task of booking the squash match phenom in short sprints that played to his strengths rather than exposing his weaknesses. This was the Goldberg of old.

A brief run as Universal Champion came at the expense of Kevin Owens, but it did allow Goldberg the chance to say goodbye at WrestleMania 33. After losing to Brock Lesnar in Orlando, Bill walked off into the sunset yet again. This time, he did so knowing that he had put things right in a company which previously viewed him as over-rated.
