10 Best WCW Video Games

6. WCW Nitro

Taking the presentation one step further, WCW joined up with the now-defunct THQ to release WCW Nitro for Playstation in 1997. The game would later be released for N64 and PC in 1999, but was showing its age by that point, and there were better wrestling titles out there, some of which are featured on this list! Regardless of what was to come, Nitro is bashed for poor controls, which confused the player and made it difficult to play, and for stiff animations. On the plus side, the game featured 16 playable wrestlers initially, with a staggering further 48 which can be unlocked. For a mid-90's wrestling title, that is impressive. Nitro also does a great job of capturing the WCW atmosphere, and dare it be said, attitude of the time. Sure, it can be a little mind-boggling to play at first, but spend some time with it, and there's enjoyment to be had. There isn't any real story mode of such, but that sort of innovation hadn't yet really entered major release wrestling games.
