There was no way we could leave this one off.

The Miz has been such a colossal d*ckhead to Daniel Bryan over the years that it was a must for WWE to book some comeuppance when Bryan was medically cleared. This is as natural a rivalry as the promotion has coughed up in the modern era, and it was thankfully used before Big Cass could sap all of Daniel's comeback aura.

When they were finished with the Cass guff, this angle was ready-made for WWE. All the taunting from Miz and Maryse about Daniel being a loser as SmackDown GM, that looked like it might be wasted before his return, was brought back up. Creative didn't have a tough task here. They had an archive of footage to dip into for the program.

Predictably, it was good and led to solid matches at SummerSlam, a fun mixed tag at Hell In A Cell and then Bryan's revenge at Super Show-Down in Australia. By beating Miz so soundly in three minutes after the heel had dodged and cheated for months, Bryan finally had a babyface feud to be proud of before he himself turned rogue.
