10 Best WWE Feuds Of 2018

3. AJ Styles Vs. Samoa Joe

"Oh Weeeeeeeeeendyyyyyyyyyyyy".

That was either Samoa Joe's best Jack Nicholson impression or just a complete coincidence. We'd veer towards the former, and there was nothing wrong with channeling some of the actor's menace to sell his one-man crusade against family man AJ Styles. In fact, it made Joe a monstrous dirtbag.

Leave any annoyance that Joe didn't get that long-awaited WWE Title reign at the door too. That was part of the story. Without mind games, he couldn't beat AJ fair and square, and so had to resort to psychology and fear tactics to have the advantage. That's what a heel does, and the big Samoan was super-convincing on the mic.

Besides, the matches were hardly poor. At SummerSlam, Hell In A Cell and Super Show-Down, they breezed through the story beats and showed Joe was incapable of getting the job done without family distractions. Crown Jewel doesn't count for much though, and, in retrospect, it might have been better had WWE not thrown another Joe title shot out there just to fill the gap left by Daniel Bryan.
