It's been a while since John Cena has elicited a good "oooh" sound from the audience. In fact, you might have to go all the way back to his Doctor of Thuganomics days in the early 2000s, where some of his put-downs were almost reminiscent of The Rock's heyday.

The feud he shared with Roman Reigns in the autumn of last year, however, drew plenty of gasps from the WWE Universe, arguably the biggest of them coming when he brought up the very public misstep that derailed The Big Dog's 2016.

"Consider me like a drugs test," Cena told his No Mercy opponent, "you ain't getting past me." It was a line so brutal that even Roman, a man who never backs down from a challenge, could only stand there staring at his own feet in response.

In a way, it's sort of incredible that WWE would even allow one of its biggest assets to be publicly humiliated in this way. But that's what made this moment so jarring: Roman has been protected like nobody else over the preceding three years, and was made to look an inch tall by the very man who used to occupy his spot on the roster.
