10 Best WWE Insults Of 2017
6. "You're A John Cena Bootleg"
Most people would probably be delighted to be compared to John Cena, a millionaire professional wrestler and budding movie-star, but for Roman Reigns, it's just about the worst insult you can throw at him.
In this context, it basically implies that The Big Dog represents WWE's frantic (and largely unsuccessful) attempt to fill the shoes of a man who has been carrying the company on his back for more than a decade.
It also implies that Roman is a vanilla good guy who has been groomed for the role of Vince McMahon's franchise player since almost the moment he emerged from the womb. Or - as Big Match John himself put it last year - that he's a "cheap-ass, corporately-created John Cena bootleg".
That one had to sting a little bit, although perhaps it was necessary for WWE to finally acknowledge the sentiment upfront. It's been the elephant in the Monday Night Raw room for the best part of three years, and watching the commentators pretend that he's universally adored by fans is simply awkward and contrived.
