Having fallen victim to the Miz back in 2010, it was only fair that Randy Orton got his retribution three years later at SummerSlam. In doing so, he would also even the score for his victim, Daniel Bryan, who had of course been on the right end of a cash-in back in 2011.

At first thought, this looked like nothing more than a tease. Having pinned John Cena clean for the title, Bryan was on top of the world. Or at least, the top turnbuckle. Orton would then make his way to the ring, only to hesitate at ringside.

This paved the way for Triple H—who had been acting as an entirely unbiased guest referee - to turn on Bryan and nail him with the pedigree. Orton slid in for the cover as his newfound allegiance to the Game was revealed.

Not only had Orton emphatically turned heel, but this effectively marked the start of the slow burn Daniel Bryan vs. The Authority angle which of course culminated in that iconic WrestleMania XXX finale.
