When your WrestleMania card is in essence a one-match show and that one match is Hulk Hogan vs. The Ultimate Warrior, one can be forgiven for being a little worried. 1990 was a different time however, and fans had no problem sitting through hours of dross in order to get to the showdown of all showdowns.

This was Champion vs. Champion and babyface hero vs. babyface hero, the sort of match that fans quite simply had never seen. It was a true clash of the titans, and whilst it doesn't take a Dave Meltzer to tell you that these guys weren't going to put on a technical classic, it is difficult to watch this bout and not be thoroughly entertained.

This was a spectacle, and the 67,287 people packed into Toronto's SkyDome ate up every single second of it. This match was way better than it truly had any right to be, with the two pulling every trick out of the book to make it a huge success.

It was supposed to signify the torch being passed, but the fact that the focus seemed to be on Hogan passing the torch as opposed to Warrior picking it up didn't bode well for the new champion.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
