It was a stroke of genius from Vince McMahon to draft boxing bad boy Mike Tyson in for a handful of celebrity dates between January-March 1998. It was an even bigger success when McMahon booked Tyson in a tense confrontation with his own in-house rebel Steve Austin on the 19 January episode of Raw.

That, just 24 hours after Austin had won the latest Royal Rumble, felt like the start of something special.

In the final few minutes of the show, Austin gatecrashed McMahon's mainstream media love-in and said he didn't appreciate Vince calling Tyson the "baddest man on the planet". Fans could tell a fight was brewing, and they got their wish when Austin flipped Mike the double bird and the pair engaged in a pull-apart brawl.

On commentary, Jim Ross went into hype overdrive by shouting, "Tyson and Austin! Tyson and Austin!" over and over again. People, both wrestling fans and sports lovers alike, couldn't wait to find out what would happen next.
