10 Best WWE References In Rap Music

6. "Shadowboxin" By GZA & Method Man

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Byf8LUwzys Lyric: "I slayed MC's back in the rec room era/My style broke motherf****n' backs like Ken Patera" If you were to look at pure lyrics and go bar-for-bar throughout entire careers, there might not be a better rapper on this list than The GZA. A member of the legendary group Wu-Tang Clan, GZA gets credit here for not going with a wrestler that would have been an "easy" choice. The song was released in 1995 and he could have tried to name drop someone like Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Diesel, Bret Hart or The Undertaker. He decided to go with Ken Patera, who had his best days in wrestling a good 15+ years prior to this song's release, instead. It's a really simple line but that's what helps to make it work so well. It doesn't need to be overly extravagant or showy. The GZA is merely talking about how long he's been in the rap game and how his rap style is so vicious that it can hurt people who get in his way. Just a nice old school line.
