5. July 15, 2004 - Guerrero vs JBL In A Cage

WWE.comWWE.comThe feud between Eddie Guerrero and John Bradshaw Layfield was about more than the WWE Championship. It was intensely personal. The loudmouth Texan denounced Guerrero's Mexican heritage and harmed his mother, causing a heart attack in front of the Guerrero family's hometown fans, The competitors waged war in a violent, bloody match at Judgment Day and a very physical Bull Rope match at Great American Bash in June 2004. The final chapter of their feud would be written on July 15 when JBL defended the WWE Championship against Guerrero in a steel cage match. "Latino Heat" was unleashed on the champion as Guerrero took out all of his hurt and frustration against his rival. A big frog splash from the top of the cage could not keep the resilient, tough JBL down. Ultimately, it was interference from Kurt Angle (under the El Gran Luchadore mask) that cost Guerrero the championship and ensured that the champion's reign would continue for another month. Guerrero would go on to feud with Angle, leading to a match between them at SummerSlam. JBL's next opponent? The Undertaker. John Cena's issues with Angle, who had been SmackDown general manager to that point, continued as he was booked in an unfair Three-on-One Handicap match against top contenders to his United States title Kenzo Suzuki, Rene Dupree and Booker T. WWE Tag Team champions Paul London and Billy Kidman continued to irritate the Dudley Boyz as London defeated D'Von just weeks after capturing the titles from the hated villains. Finally, Spike Dudley continued an improbable career resurgence that would lead to an unpredictable curve ball in the weeks that followed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPrCd9ImD4g Results: Rey Mysterio, and Spike Dudley defeated Chavo Guerrero and Jamie Noble...
