Despite CM Punk's surprising exit, WWE has not done very much about it in terms of moving forward. Instead of attempting to build more main event talent to replace Punk and Daniel Bryan, the company seems intent on going with past stars to carry them in the short term. Chris Jericho and Rob Van Dam are back and Brock Lesnar is the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. While no one can dispute the value that all three men have and especially the impact that Lesnar in particular has had, the truth is that that these men are not in it for the long haul. Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns have all been elevated but some could argue that it's not much past the position they held when they were together as The Shield. Roman himself was supposedly meant for great things, namely John Cena's top spot but now that Lesnar is champion, is that even in the cards? The fact that WWE was not ready to lose two top stars is evident by the fact that its second biggest storyline next to Lesnar versus John Cena is Stephanie McMahon versus Brie Bella. The company has the talent on hand to carry them in the long term but that talent was not developed enough before Bryan and Punk left. Now that the company could move ahead with Ziggler, Sandow, Cesaro and a few others, the process is painstakingly slow if it's even happening at all.
