10 Big Talking Points From WWE Survivor Series 2017
4. End Of The Main Event
It’s nigh on impossible to discuss Survivor Series without touching upon the end of that main event.
A match that started out well enough soon degenerated into a hot mess. Granted, the opening moments gave us some never-before-seen showdowns, but it wasn’t long before Cena and Randy Orton joined those four aforementioned NXT names in being eliminated, leaving a final four of Kurt Angle, Triple H and Braun Strowman on Team Raw, and the 47-year-old part-timer Shane McMahon as the one last man on Team SmackDown.
As if that in itself wasn’t disappointing enough, we then saw Triple H inexplicably enter the ring, nail Angle with a sloppy Pedigree and bundle Shane on top of him for the pin. Suddenly, a 3-1 advantage was now just 2-1. Or was it in fact 1-2, with Triple H now joining the SmackDown ranks?
Unfortunately, no one watching seemed to know for sure. The crowd fell silent, and after far too long a pause, Triple H hit Shane with the Pedigree to end the match and put everyone out of their misery.
It made for an awkward, overly-contrived and poorly-executed finish to a match that had initially promised so much.
