If everything had gone to plan, WrestleMania VIII was supposed to be the night Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan finally faced off in their long-awaited dream match. The feud didn't pan out as planned, however, and after a series of modest showings on the house show circuit, WWE canned the idea. 'The Nature Boy' faced Randy Savage instead, and 'The Hulkster' wrestled Sid Justice, whom he tussled with at the Royal Rumble.

The match was supposed to finish with a disqualification following an interference from Papa Shango, but the future Godfather was nowhere to be found when the time came. He seemingly forgot to run down, leading to an improvised finish that saw the diminutive Harvey Wippelman enter the ring to trigger the DQ.

Confusion rained down upon the arena, but nobody was more baffled than Shango. He eventually turned up way behind schedule, but stopped halfway down the ramp, completely taken aback by the unplanned finish.

The match itself wasn't anything to write home about, but you don't expect this level of incompetence from a 'Mania main event. Fortunately, the Ultimate Warrior's unexpected return drew a big pop minutes later, saving the show from complete humiliation.
