10 Big WWE Returns That Could Happen In 2019

9. John Morrison

Impact Wrestling would prove the obvious barrier here. The wrestler formerly known as John Morrison re-signed with that promotion back in December 2017, and it’s currently unclear when, exactly, his deal will expire. Nonetheless, WWE’s “gotta catch ‘em all’ approach should see him float back onto their radar in 2019, and you know they’ll try to snap him up if he re-enters the free agent market.

A popular Ruthless Aggression midcarder, Morrison has improved since leaving WWE, putting forth quality work for Impact and Lucha Underground, but remains a similar performer to the one we all know from back in the day. He’s all about athleticism and, of course, his superstar look. His character work isn’t elite, but we all know he can wrestle, and that’s often enough to get over in today’s workrate-centric era. Plus, there’s the obvious nostalgia factor.

Shelton Benjamin’s situation raises concerns. A similar performer to Morrison, the former Gold Standard barely even makes it onto SmackDown these days, and JoMo could face similar problems. Still, at least he’d be able to pop crowds on the live event circuit.
