10 Biggest AEW Success Stories (So Far)

8. Serena Deeb

Serena Deeb's bout against Thunder Rosa on the All Out go-home edition of Dynamite was arguably one of the company's greatest products of the year.

Severely misused under the WWE banner, Deeb was talked about amongst critics as fans raved about her performance vs. Rosa as she proved why she was worth a contract. Quickly snapped up by Tony Khan and co., the reigning NWA World Women's Champion has since become a prominent force within AEW's women's division. often being treated as a superior champion to AEW's own champ, Hikaru Shida.

It's that debut match with Thunder Rosa that earns her a spot on this list, though.

When she showed up to face Rosa on 2 September, it felt like a restart for the former Straight Edge Society member. What's quite interesting about Deeb's post-WWE career is that she seemed to be done with in-ring grappling for two instances. An Impact Wrestling appearance in July 2015 was her last match before returning to the 'E for the inaugural Mae Young Classic. Her first match after the tournament? Thunder Rosa.

It feels like Serena's passion for pro wrestling was reignited following her initial AEW appearances, with her title win only further bringing this love back to her heart. She's finally being treated correctly in a major promotion, something AEW managed to accomplish in just one contest. If only WWE had seen this, and not shaved her bald...
