It was the day when the passion and love of the fans triumphed over all else. It was never meant to be, but through the sheer willpower and dedication of us, the common wrestling marks, it turned into a reality.

Daniel Bryan’s rise through the ranks was in many ways a paradigm shift for WWE. When he won Money in the Bank, there was shock and delight in equal amounts rippling through the fan base. This guy? This under six foot, under 200 pounds guy? The gates had been opened and the archetypal idea of a WWE superstar, was changed forever.

But the fans wanted more. They didn’t just want Bryan to be one of the top guys, they wanted him to be THE guy. Cue the YES! Movement.

WWE teased and teased until realization dawned on us all that Bryan would never be the chosen one. Vince and co. decided on their tried and tested stars to main event WrestleMania and the YES! Man had been denied his due. Or so they thought.

The WWE Universe would have none of it. What followed was utterly surreal. The crowds hijacked shows, drowned out promos and destroyed the internet with their unrelenting efforts calling for Bryan to be the top guy. Even the most pigheaded could no longer turn a deaf ear.

And thus, come WrestleMania XXX, the dream came true. DB bested Triple H in a brilliant opening encounter before heading to the main event. After another ingeniously crafted triple threat, Bryan locked in the YES Lock on Batista and the entire WWE Universe held their collective breath. Even the commentary matched the occasion as Michael Cole begged Batista to tap. After a few tantalizing seconds, it finally came. The arena exploded into the stratosphere. If you were not jumping for joy when Bryan held both world belts aloft, chances are your soul left you a long time ago.

After battling Galactus and pinning Hulk Hogan in the main event of Wrestlemania, I've taken a break from living in fantasy worlds, to focus on writing about them. I'm a comic book geek, a wrestling mark, a break dancer, and a scientist. One of those things may not be true.
