10 Biggest First Time Ever WWE Matches

9. Shawn Michaels Vs. The Undertaker - Ground Zero: In Your House 1997

The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels only had five singles matches against each other in WWE. FIVE. In this time of wrestlers constantly wrestling each other the idea of two top stars facing each other just five times in 20 years is crazy. Heck, AJ Styles and Chris Jericho faced each other four times just this year.

Their first meeting wouldn't come until Ground Zero: In Your House in 1997, and the match itself was no more than a mess. A fun mess, but it was built around mass interference and ref bumps in order to justify a second meeting between the two at the next PPV inside Hell in a Cell.

You can point to this match as being the first time WWE truly gave away a marquee first time match at a non-Big Four PPV. 13 years later they would have their last match on the grandest stage of them all.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
