10 Biggest First Time Ever WWE Matches
8. Hulk Hogan Vs. Shawn Michaels - SummerSlam 2005
Many may feel that this match should be higher on the list, but by the time it came around in 2005 you could argue that the ship had sailed, found port and begun the journey home. Sure, in 2005 Shawn Michaels was still a top tier professional wrestler capable of putting on a great match with a used teabag.
Hulk Hogan in 2005? Probably slightly less mobile than a used teabag. So whilst the novelty of a Shawn Michaels/Hulk Hogan battle was still there, there was little genuine desire to see it. This was exacerbated by the fact that Michaels had to turn heel for the match to go ahead, as no crowd was going to cheer Hogan over Michaels at this point.
The match itself is famous for all the wrong reasons. Yes, it is funny to watch, but Michaels' performance was unprofessionalism defined, unprofessionalism in response to Hogan's. This was two grown men squabbling over pieces of meat, essentially. Michaels jumped around, Hogan bled, Hogan won. Big leg 1-2-3, brother.
