Once In A Lifetime! Once In A Lifetime! Once In A Lifetime!

Okay, so 'Once in a Lifetime' actually meant 'Twice in a Lifetime', but the enormity of this match really can't be stressed enough. Love him or hate him (or even those few who are ambivalent to him), John Cena is the biggest name in professional wrestling today. He may not be the champ, but when he refers to himself as The Face That Runs The Place, he isn't wrong.

WWE managing to get The Rock back to wrestle at WrestleMania was a huge coup, and once it was going ahead there was no other option than a dream match against Cena. The two had gone back and forth over social media on a number of occasions in the past, adding fuel to the fire.

In many ways Cena and The Rock are distant relatives in the world of wrestling, the marketable face of the company that many resent due to a perceived ease of success. This match was huge, whether you liked it or not. When The Rock came back Cena wasn't just the right option, Cena was the only option.

It's just a shame it was so big it had to happen more than once in a lifetime.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
