2019 is shaping up to be one of the weirdest years of Mark Calaway's 35-year wrestling career.

He'll appear as The Undertaker at the AEW-adjacent Starrcast II convention over Double Or Nothing weekend in Las Vegas this May. It'll be his first non-WWE wrestling appearance in decades, and while there's no indication that 'The Deadman' has severed ties with his long-time employer, that he removed all WWE mentions from his social media accounts in February is telling. He's exploring outside opportunities, and there's little Vince McMahon can do to stop him.

This has reportedly rancored the Chairman, and while the Wrestling Observer has reported that both sides are in talks to do something at WrestleMania 35, he probably won't be wrestling on 7 April despite being confirmed for WWE's next Saudi Arabian show the following month.

'Taker has been scheduled for every WrestleMania since 2000, when he was sidelined with a torn pectoral muscle. He isn't the performer he used to be, but him not being involved is a big deal, and the odds of him showing up shrink with every passing day.
