10 Biggest Promises WWE Broke In 2020

3. "I Can't Personally Be In The Weeds Any Longer"

Last year, Vince McMahon, when explaining the creative shake-up that installed Eric Bischoff and Paul Heyman as Executive Directors, told investors that he can't "personally be in the weeds any longer".

Hurrah!

That's that, then. Vince McMahon is no longer doing the creative, leaving behind a glorious legacy he did so much to ruin.

He broke the promise in 2019, of course. In addition to "generally overseeing WWE like an autocrat and imagining the events through his fading, childish lens," McMahon was blamed entirely on the Hell In A Cell fiasco and the build towards it. Seth Rollins going full Godsmack and Cryin Like A Bitch!!; the red lights; the legal and illegal hammers; the show of mercy extended towards the supernatural monster: all of it was vintage Vinny Mac.

But he also broke it, a lot, in 2020. Because he runs the company.

Specifically, it is impossible to listen to those Lars Sullivan heavy breathing promos without imagining Vince McMahon guiding Lars Sullivan through the enunciation in a one-on-one meeting, which he almost certainly did.

"You’re a freak! Breathe like a freak! Oh my....he's comin' to, he's comin' to...he's gonna breathe! He's gonna breathe! He's gonna breathe!

AHAHAHAHAHA!"
