10 Biggest Promises WWE Broke In 2020
2. Stephanie McMahon Orders Clean Finish, Gets F*ck Finish
Extreme Rules was the most stark illustration yet of the core WWE problem.
Much of the professional wrestling was exceptional, but the creative was a WrestleCrap-level atrocity. Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler put forward a cracking effort, as energetic as it was violent, and yet it broke the stipulation. McIntyre wasn't allowed to use Extreme Rules. Ziggler was. McIntyre sh*t himself because he nearly put Ziggler through a table. "Oh no! I lose my title if I do that!" he emoted, before actually trying to put Ziggler through a table a minute later. It was a different table though.
Different tables for different...needs.
Seth Rollins and Rey Mysterio worked a banger. The objective of the banger was to extract the opponent's eyeball.
Asuka and Sasha Banks worked a banger too, and it f*cking banged, delivering bursts and gasps of drama through its frenetic struggle, but at the finish, Bayley put on a referee top and counted the three. The timekeeper shrugged - how is anybody meant to follow the rules in this company? - and rang the bell.
Stephanie McMahon was upset by this on RAW the following night. Bayley should not have done this. No, you f*cks, the finish shouldn't have counted. Regardless, she set the rubber match and demanded Bayley not get involved. Sasha would lose the title if Bayley interfered on her behalf during the match.
Bayley interfered on her behalf during the match, by drawing Asuka to the backstage area in which she'd beaten down Kairi Sane, and Sasha didn't lose the title.
Because you are considered very, very stupid by these very stupid people.
