10 Biggest Shocks In WWE WrestleMania History
5. Ronda Rousey Attacks
WrestleMania 31 was a great show that had a bit of everything, from great matches and high spots, nods to the past, and a keen eye on the future. Perhaps the most important example of the latter was the first WWE appearance for the future headliner Ronda Rousey, who made as impactful a debut as any celebrity guest.
Triple H and Stephanie McMahon came to the ring to announce the attendance and do some heel schtick. In due course they were interrupted by The Rock, and the three indulged in a face-off and exchange of views. “Indulge” is certainly the right word, as this went on forever, before a much needed jolt of energy was added in the form of Rousey.
To the delight of the crowd, she hopped the fence and took to the ring, which she claimed as her own. She solidified this by chucking HHH to the ground and slapping Stephanie as the crowd ceaselessly chanted her name.
The Rousey/WWE connection was teased for a long while, to the extent that it felt like it might never actually happen. It would be three years before Rousey performed (and excelled) in her debut match, but this was when the magic first happened.
