Following Crimson and Jax Dane’s dominating win over the Kingdom of Jocephus, their manager Road Warrior Animal took to the mic with a major announcement. While being interviewed by Jim Cornette, Animal announced that the famed Crockett Cup will once again take place come next year.
It's been thirty years since Jim Crockett Promotions held the historic tag team tournament, with the last event held in 1988. In fact, the Road Warriors won 1986's inaugural Crockett Cup after overcoming 23 other teams. The Cup returns with the blessing of the Crockett family and in partnership with the Crockett Foundation which benefits military veterans suffering from mental disorders.
While no further details on an exact date or participants was given, the Cup would be a logical way to crown new World Tag Team Champions next year. However, the NWA will likely have to look far and wide for viable teams to fill the tournament's brackets. After their impressive showing on Sunday, the War Kings are surefire entrants, and perhaps some of the remaining slots could utilize the NWA's ongoing affiliations with Championship From Hollywood and Ring of Honor.
