WWE had huge plans for Ken Kennedy in 2005/6. Kennedy impressed the right people with his sterling mic work and received praise for his matches with the likes of Chris Benoit, Batista and The Undertaker. The ultra-charismatic and cocky Kennedy was earmarked for a huge push. Some in the company, including Vince McMahon, thought he had the potential to be the new Steve Austin or The Rock, as incredible as it seems now. Kennedy was eventually going to be revealed as the man that blew Vince McMahon up during the infamous angle in June 2007 and was also going to be named as Vince's son (during that disappointing storyline). But oh how it all went wrong. Kennedy was his own worst enemy in WWE. True, he kept getting injured at bad times, which was unfortunate. But he didn't do himself any favours with his own conduct backstage or in media interviews. His performances on news shows in the wake of the Benoit tragedy, for example, were laughable and made him and the company look like fools. Especially when he was suspended just twelve days later for buying steroids online via Signature Pharmacy. Kennedy had no credibility after that. He was released from his contract on May 29th, 2009 after dropping Randy Orton on his head during a match on Raw.
