10 Biggest Women’s Firsts In WWE Matches
4. Bayley Vs. Sasha Banks, 30-Minute Iron Man Match - NXT TakeOver: Respect 2015
The first post-women’s revolution match on the list fittingly happened at NXT, the place were it all began.
Sasha Banks had been a standout during her run at Full Sail, holding the NXT Women’s Championship for 192 days. But, at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn, Banks lost the belt to fan-favourite Bayley in one of the company’s best women’s matches.
For the rematch, these two were going to have to try and top their previous achievements, by competing in the first-ever women’s Iron Man match.
After a backstage debate about whether it should be called Iron Man or Iron Woman, the two friends were given 30 minutes and the main event slot, as they battled one last time in NXT.
Knowing they had to go 30 minutes while keeping the crowd’s interest, Bayley and Sasha kept a steady pace, building the excitement with each fall. In the end it was Bayley who was victorious, winning three falls to Sasha’s two, after locking in an armbar.
It was an emotional scene when the match ended; the whole locker room came out to show their respect for the women, and give an emotional farewell to Sasha as she headed for the main roster.
