10 BIGGEST Wrestling Events Ever

7. WrestleMania III

Not to sound like a broken record, but WWE was up to its old tricks again. There wasn't 93,173 people there, it didn't break the record for the largest recorded attendance at a live indoor event in North America, and it wasn't even the first time Hulk Hogan bodyslammed Andre The Giant.

78,000 were packed into the Pontiac Silverdome; the smaller number doesn't make the spectacle any less impressive either. Vince McMahon screaming "Welcome to WrestleMania," Aretha Franklin singing America the Beautiful, and Andre coming down the aisle in a miniature ring will never stop being iconic moments.

Forget the numbers, this was the absolute peak of the Golden Era. Going from the bizarre decision to host 'Mania 2 at three different arenas to putting on a show in what was then the biggest indoor arena in the United States was ambitious; fortunately it worked so well.

"Macho Man" Randy Savage Vs. Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat is one of the greatest matches in WWE history. It was a wrestling clinic that showed just how impressive wrestling could be. It also had the best rollup finish ever; it was the making of the most devastating move in all of sports entertainment. This match deserved to have 93,173 in attendance, even if it 100% didn't.

Having sat derelict for years the Silverdome was imploded in 2017, but the legend lives on.
