6. What The Gronk Was That?

Rob Gronkowski’s stint in WWE was mercifully brief, but that didn’t stop him riling up fans and colleagues alike during his short stay.

The signing of ‘The Gronk’ in March of this year was seen as a big deal for the company, but the fans didn’t take to the former NFL star too kindly. He immediately irritated everybody when he made his entrance by doing a goofy dance on the way to the ring. Instead of being charming and charismatic, Gronkowski just came across as obnoxious and annoying, even when next to Mojo Rawley!

He was revealed as the host of WrestleMania 36 and paired with Mojo in a series of short ‘comedy’ skits at the event. But even the limited things he was asked to do caused problems during recording. ‘The Gronk’ had reportedly agreed to do a dive spot at 'Mania but became hesitant when it came time to perform and ended up putting the filming two hours behind schedule. Rumour has it that he only did the dive after 74-year-old Vince McMahon showed him how it’s done, which is footage that needs to be shown in a ‘WWE 24’ special if it’s true.

Gronkowski's deal reportedly included a release clause that he executed in order to return to the NFL and join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. ‘The Gronk’ and WWE simply didn’t gel and his swift departure from the company just a couple of months after signing was probably the best thing for everyone involved.
