10 Biggest WWE News Items Of 2014

4. Daniel Bryan's Rise And Fall

This really should have been Daniel Bryan's year. For the first four months of it, 2014 definitely was the year of the man with the "goat face" as WWE likes to call him. The problem is that we didn't see enough of him even though there was a point where we couldn't get enough of the guy. As mentioned earlier, Bryan should have won the Royal Rumble to get a WWE Title match at WrestleMania. Instead, WWE took another month to realize how much the fans loved him and an "Occupy Raw" segment led to a match with Triple H at WrestleMania. After Bryan won that match as the opener at WM30, he was part of the main event of the show. The triple threat match with Bryan taking on WWE Champion Randy Orton and Batista was one of the most memorable matches this year. It was a special night for me sitting in that crowd chanting "yes" in support of my favorite wrestler. Bryan worked two long matches that night and they were the best of the night too. He ended it as the WWE Champion. Hearing 70,000 people chanting "yes" for this guy was amazing. Why? Because he deserved it so much. Bryan got married to WWE diva Brie Bella the weekend following WrestleMania. Soon after that, his father tragically passed away. It was such a big blow to him. Then in May, it was discovered that he had a neck injury that would require surgery. There were so many different reports that came out saying he'll be back in 4-6 months, but it didn't happen. Seven months later we still have no idea when he's going to wrestle again. It was such a rollercoaster year for Bryan. He's a great guy that loves to wrestle and hopefully he'll be able to do that soon.
