10 Biggest WWE News Items Of 2014

3. CM Punk Leaving WWE In January

The Royal Rumble got people talking because it was a poorly booked show, which was covered earlier. The next day, hours before Raw went to air, there was even bigger news: CM Punk went home. He had a meeting with Vince McMahon, he told him he was sick of things and he left. He hasn't been back since. According to him, he will never be back. It's been a weird year without him on WWE TV since he was such a major part of the company from 2006 to 2013. He's also a guy that was arguably the best all around performer during the last five years or so. His absence left a huge void that has been difficult for WWE to fill. Punk got married to WWE diva AJ Lee in June of this year. We didn't hear much of him from January through most of November. He moved on, so did we. Then there was the two hour podcast from last week that really got people talking. CM Punk went on Colt Cabana's podcast and he ripped on Triple H and Ryback among others. He also criticized WWE for always making him work while he's hurt and not treating a staph infection the right way, which could have killed. There were other crazy things like how WWE fired him on the day of his wedding. Listening to that stuff was unbelievable. Any time one of the biggest performers in the company walks away it's a huge story. To some fans maybe it was the biggest. It all depends on your perception of Punk.
