By all accounts, Stu Bennett hated life towards the end of his WWE tenure. His in-ring career's dying days seemed to burn him out on professional wrestling entirely but while he hasn't wrestled since April 2016, the former Wade Barrett hasn't left the business entirely, working various on-camera roles for WCPW/Defiant Wrestling before jumping to the National Wrestling Alliance following the Jim Cornette scandal in late 2019.

Barrett's WWE departure was handled weirdly on television. An unconventional exit saw him beaten down and booted out of the League of Nations, though there was no implication that this was the end of his run with the promotion - only the stable. Regardless, it was later revealed that Bennett and WWE had come to terms on an early release from his contract. He was off to focus on an acting career, promising only to return to wrestling if and when the time was right.

Returning to WWE may be a hard sell for a man who hasn't exactly been complimentary about how his previous run ended, though perhaps the payday would help his passion catch up.
