10 Bold Predictions For Wrestling In 2023

1. Bray Wyatt Will Get Repackaged AGAIN

Surely not.

This is meant to be the final make-good: the reboot that restores the original property the way it should have existed this whole time. The idea is that Bray Wyatt was a creative genius whose brilliance was thwarted, time and time again, by Vince McMahon's incompetence. There's a shred of truth to this, in that Bray was halfway compelling in NXT and the first round of Firefly Fun House vignettes were genuinely creative, but it's a generous take.

This new Bray Wyatt is already looking a lot like the old Bray Wyatt.

He's not an intimidating wrestler with an uncanny presence. His attempts at maniacal laughter don't convey an unhinged presence. He isn't Mick Foley. His conversations - "You ever cut off on the road?" - feel as fake as all the other dialogue on the show.

The thing is, there's a lot riding on this act. It is meant to be the definitive proof that Papa H > Vince McMahon, and Wyatt was brought back to much fanfare.

It can't therefore fail, and when it does, they'll try to fool you again. That's how the dance goes, and it's as old as time itself at this point. When the bell rings, the truth will reveal itself, and when a supernatural bullsh*t development too far happens, Uncle Howdy won't be the monster. They'll go back to Sister Abigail or they'll make a new mask.

They'll do something in defiance of the "continuity" to make you think he can be saved. Again.
