It's difficult to shake the feeling that Titus O'Neil is a bit of a lame duck challenger for Rusev and the WWE United States Title. To their credit, WWE are simply trying to build the Bulgarian back up, following an extended period of time where he had cooled off significantly. Beating O'Neil is viewed as a small step towards regaining his heat.

For his part, Titus needs to have more sympathy. He just came out of nowhere and was installed as Rusev's challenger, without much rhyme or reason. Notably, he hasn't really beaten anybody to merit a title shot, so giving him a match on Raw would be shrewd.

After beating a lower-level name, possibly someone like Heath Slater, O'Neil could grab the microphone and cut an impassioned promo about what winning the United States Title would mean to him.

Seeking understanding from the audience, he'd remark just how much it'd mean to stand in front of his young children and show them the championship. All he lives for is to make his family proud, whereas Rusev is selfish and out for only himself.
