When the Dudley Boyz turned on the Usos and put them through tables, this column rejoiced that this could be the way to make the duo relevant and more than just a nostalgia act on its last legs. There even was the possibility that Bubba Ray, who cultivated a massively successful heel persona in TNA, could break off as a singles star if WWE would allow it. That was three weeks ago. Since then, the Dudleys have repeated the same promo multiple times, outlining how they are not some nostalgia act, that their legacy wont be defined by a table, that they are the most dominant tag team in WWE history. Its a solid promo, but thats all it is. If WWE wants to make the Dudleys a top heel tag team (possibly while turning New Day face, stay tuned), then wouldnt it make sense for them to start beating up different opponents? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQDdVeXWhws Since that turn, the Dudleys have had one televised tag match, a DQ loss to Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose. And D-Von beat Jimmy Uso in less than a minute on Smackdown on Thursday. Thats it. If the Dudleys start leaving the Usos and other tag teams laying, then were onto something. But talking is going to get real stale real quick.
