Last week, Raw posted its lowest non-holiday rating of the year, with a paltry 2.69 million tuning in to watch WWE’s flagship show. No matter who’s on top of the brand right now, that viewership has to be concerning to WWE as a whole.

Sure, last week was the first regular season Monday Night Football game of the year, but it’s still a bad omen to open the season with such a low rating. Reversing this trend now is critical, as you’ve got to imagine WWE is trying to figure out a way to recapture casual viewers ASAP.

Whether that means bringing in a big star like Brock Lesnar, loading up on legends like Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair, or advertising a world title match, all options should be on the table if WWE is seriously considering an all-out offensive to drive up viewership. We’ve seen WWE do it before when the company feels the need, and we might see the first signs of this as soon as Monday.
