10 Changes WWE Should Make To SmackDown Live On FOX
4. Introduce Superstar Rankings
Remember that SmackDown Live Top Ten angle they introduced late last year? I don't blame you if you don't because it was dropped quickly. Basically, one day on SmackDown, Daniel Bryan introduced a storyline top ten list that was supposedly pooled together by other superstars to determine who on SmackDown deserved "opportunities." It mixed male superstars, female superstars, and tag teams, had a goal that was totally vague, and the only characters who seemingly cared about it were Bobby Roode and Jinder Mahal. It was completely asinine and abandoned almost immediately.
Despite how jumbled the execution was, the idea of superstar rankings is a sound idea in theory. After all, whether it's division standings in team sports or fighter rankings in MMA and boxing, having a hierarchy of superstars to determine title matches or who's in line for one is a good way to develop storylines and character motivation. Nowadays, who's in line for what is so vague in WWE, and having defined rankings for superstars and tag teams lets fans know exactly what's going on and understand who has to fight for what.
Of course, this would require making wins and losses matter, so this one's definitely a long shot for WWE.
