In 2012, Vince McMahon made a crucial decision. It was one which irrirated a lot of people, and the choice continues to be a source of frustration for many pro wrestling fans. McMahon's idea was to make Monday Night Raw a 3-hour broadcast, aping WCW's Monday Nitro, a program which had previously chosen to do the same thing. That decision is routinely used as a talking point when discussing why WCW started to fail as a product. There are parallels with WWE, the sagging ratings being the most prominent. Even so, McMahon continues his unwavering belief that a 180-minute weekly wrestling television show can appeal to a mass audience. The extra hour has all too often caused Raw to lack focus. For 2016, the vast majority of fans would see it as a plus point if WWE elected to switch back to a 2-hour format with their flagship show. This would ease the burden on the creative team, who clearly sometimes struggle with pacing a 3-hour event properly. In essence, Raw would have the chance to become a more dynamic product again, one which holds fan attention throughout.
