One week after CM Punk walked out on WWE, Shinsuke Nakamura took part in a six-man tag team match that Dave Meltzer rated 4 1/4 stars. The match featured six of the best in the world then, six men who could enter that same conversation today. Nakamura teamed with Kazuchika Okada and Tomohiro Ishii in a winning effort against the trio of Hiroshi Tanahashi, Tetsuya Naito and Hirooki Goto. What a line-up that is!

The idea of Nakamura in WWE was light years away when Punk left, so the thought of a Punk vs. Nakamura match has only ever resided in the dream match part of the collective wrestling fan brain. Nakamura is now an integral part of SmackDown Live, a potential WWE Champion-in-waiting.

Both men have dabbled in mixed martial arts, although Nakamura has at least experienced some success in that regard. Nakamura vs. Punk would be a strike and grapple heavy match that certain sections of the fanbase would certainly call overrated, as the rest cleans up the drool on the floor.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
