Did you know that WWE is consistently one of the highest rated shows on cable, that more people Tweet about their show than whatever your grandma is watching, and they also lead in other social media nonsense and stuff like that? Well, did you also know that less than half of the people watch Raw than they did 15 years ago? WWE does have a lot of things to be proud of. After all, they are the largest wrestling company on the planet. So good for them! But do they need to tell us about how popular they are every week? Worse than that is their constant bragging about charity. Some superstars go read to children during the week? You better believe were going to hear about that along with some video to prove it! Its great that they have their wrestlers go to childrens hospitals and anti-bullying campaigns, but they dont seem to do those things out of the kindness of their hearts. It's all about making the WWE seem like a big warm, fuzzy family so corporate sponsors will line up to advertise with them. Don't believe it? Over WrestleMania weekend, Stephanie McMahon summed up the true intentions of all this goodwill when she Tweeted that Philanthropy is the future of marketing. Yeah, just keep that to yourself.
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
