10 Craziest Bumps In WWE History

4. The Macho Man Meets An Unexpected Foe - WWF Superstars, 1991

If we take "bump" to mean a moment of high impact during a wrestling match, this entry seems slightly out of place. It doesn't feature a high fall or a terrifying collision. It does however share two qualities with every other spot on this list: a sense of danger, and pain. Randy Savage had been locked in a blood feud with relative newcomer Jake "The Snake" Roberts throughout 1991. The feud represented a clash of old and new. Macho Man, with his bright clothes and rambling interviews, was a relic of the 1980s and Hulkamania. Roberts was a more unusual, newer star. Smaller, less muscular, and quietly-spoken, he was still able to convey a menacing charisma. A very useful prop in doing so was his use of live snakes in the aftermath of matches (the most infamous a python named Damien), which would terrify his opponents and see them fleeing from the ring. The feud with Savage saw one snake get a great deal closer. After defeating Savage in a short brawl, Jake opened his trademark burlap sack and dropped a king cobra onto the canvas. It approached the incapacitated fan favourite and, to the shock of everybody watching, legitimately latched onto Randy's arms and bit down. The Macho Man sold this magnificently, writhing in pain and frothing at the mouth while Roberts watched on in glee. It was truly one of the most shocking moments in wrestling history, and an extreme spot years ahead of its time. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4vnac_a-snake-bites-randy-savage-s-arm_news Thankfully the snake had been de-venomised beforehand, but Savage's actions threw this into doubt. He bravely rose to his feet and swung for Roberts, only to find himself paralysed from the waist down. The angle further cemented Randy's dedication to the wrestling business (as if this was ever in doubt), both in his excellent selling of his injuries and his willingness to suffer a real snakebite for the sake of a hot feud.
