Another appearance for Shawn Michaels and Triple H, but this time in a much more intimate setting. The two old friends-then-foes-then-friends-again met at SummerSlam 2002 in an Unsanctioned Street Fight, in what was Michaels’ first piece of in-ring WWE action in four years and five months.

As the name would suggest, it was a rather brutal affair, punctuated by vicious DDTs, backbreakers and sidewalk slams onto steel chairs, trash can beatings, belt lashings, and blood. An awful lot of blood. Particularly that of Triple H.

Still, all of this went down before they’d even laid a finger on the ladder that would soon come into play. Add to that the use of a fire extinguisher and a huge splash through a table on the outside, and you’ve got an absolutely mental contest incorporating just about any and every weapon you could think of.

Yet it was ended in the very simplest of ways, with Michaels securing the win with a roll-up for an unexpected finish.

Perhaps the craziest part of this match, though, was that somehow Michaels was even better than he had been before he sustained his injury, which led to us being treated to another eight years of the Showstopper’s brilliance.
