Earlier on I mentioned that Vince McMahon had managed to get arrested on WWE television on more than one occasion, and here we have the first of those instances.

Coming to us from the May 25, 1998 showing of Monday Night Raw, Vince would earn himself a stint in the cells after essentially being outsmarted by his nemesis Stone Cold Steve Austin, something that didn’t necessarily happen too often.

A week after smashing Austin with a steel chair on Raw, Vince would make his way to the ring flanked by an array of police officers for protection. He’d then proceed to brag about how he not only managed to assault Austin, but he managed to get away with it.

Naturally, this prompted the Rattlesnake himself to come to the ring, where he’d urge the officers that McMahon had recruited to act on this apparent admission of guilt. After some brief conferring, the cops were left with no alternative but to arrest Vince on the spot and, truth be told, he’d walked right into this one.

A typically slapstick moment would ensue with Vince staggering around the ring, snarling, flailing and kicking away at the man who’d got him into this mess. JR said it best with his line “the leader of the wrestling world is being cuffed” to really hammer home the (kayfabe) magnitude of it all.
