Someone very well-versed in delivering witty rapping promos was John Cena. Upon developing the character in late-2002, Cena's gangster-like persona caught on with the audience. His rhymes were imaginative and funny, endearing him to fans along the way. Much of that had changed by 2008, boos were largely audible any time the man appeared.

The situation wasn't helped by the fact that Cena had fully embraced WWE's new 'PG' rating, becoming a poster boy for the format that was about to sweep through the company. Swearing and blood were both firmly out the window, WWE performers now had strict limitations they had to work with. That explains why the word 'Poopy' was used.

Feuding with JBL heading into The Great American Bash that June, Cena and his Cryme Tyme buddies decided to vandalise JBL's limousine. Smashing windows was one thing, but Cena spray-painting 'JBL Is Poopy' on the front had adults rolling their eyes in bemusement.

Online, fans complained that a top name like Steve Austin would never have used such childish language in the middle of a bitter rivalry. Times most certainly had changed.
