It's safe to say that Maxwell Jacob Friedman was probably the most disliked heel AEW had during the build to AEW: Revolution. His turn against Cody was unexpected and led to a brilliant feud between the two. Since then, MJF has seemingly shifted his character into a more likeable screen presence.
Don't get me wrong. He's still a brilliant villain, but it's just so hard to boo him due to the amount of hilarious lines he comes out with. Calling out the audience for being off key during a rendition of Judas is a recent one. The amount of hilarious one liners and burns that "The Two Year Vet" comes out with is ridiculous and he has managed to go from the most disdained man in the company to a comic foil for Chris Jericho.
MJF doesn't slip when it comes to work rate either. He has had great matches with the likes of Jungle Boy and Jon Moxley, which show he is not just a one trick pony. In the past year, "The Salt of The Earth" has demonstrated that he is a multi talented performer and he has managed to become an almost beloved figure in AEW.
