10 Disappointing WrestleMania Matches That Should Have Been Classics

9. Goldberg Vs. Brock Lesnar - WrestleMania 20

Goldberg's only WrestleMania match, much like his entire WWE run, was a terrible disappointment. What should have been a clash of the titans, a heavy-hitting power battle between two behemoths, turned out to be a a clumsy, awkward match that played out before an audience who cared more about sending the wrestlers a message than enjoying the match. The trouble was that fans knew that both superstars were about to depart the company. It was well-known that Goldberg's contract only lasted one year and that he had rejected any and all extensions in the months leading up to the show. Yes, Goldberg hated his time in the WWE. Lesnar, on the other hand, had become disillusioned with the company and had handed in his notice a little over a week before the event. News of Lesnar's decision had leaked online and was common knowledge by the time 'Da Man' and 'The Next Big Thing' locked up. They locked up, finally, after almost three minutes of stalling. The fans immediately turned on them with chants of 'This match sucks' 'You sold out' and 'End this match'. The dream match was quickly turning into a nightmare and Lesnar and Goldberg didn't know how to handle the situation. Special referee Steve Austin salvaged things somewhat when he blasted both wrestlers with Stunners. This wouldn't be the last time Lesnar had a stinker at 'Mania.
