There was a long list of matches fans wanted to see Shawn Michaels compete in after his return from injury in 2002, with a bout against Rob Van Dam - in many ways, his spiritual successor - arguably at the very top.

Those fans were greeted with some excellent news at the beginning of an episode of Monday Night Raw in November 2002, when it was announced that the Heartbreak Kid would be defending his World Heavyweight Championship against RVD in the main event.

But then came a dose of reality. Triple H interrupted the pair just as they were beginning to build up a head of steam, and attacked the challenger in order to bring about a DQ finish, thus leaving the champ for himself at Armageddon.

Tragically, these two have never stepped back into the ring together in front of the WWE cameras. This is only the time we've ever been able to seem go at it, and it lasted fewer than 10 minutes, without even a proper ending. Are you angry yet?
