10 DUMB WWE Face Turns (We Didn't Want To Admit Were GENIUS!)

2. Brock Lesnar (2021)

Everyone knew the deal: WWE brought Paul Heyman back as Brock Lesnar's manager in 2012 because the muscle mountain himself had about as much on-mic charisma as a potted plant. Cutting promos just wasn't Brock's thing, so the duo complemented one another well. That's why Lesnar's breakout moment in 2021 was such a surprise.

He debuted 'Cowboy' Brock after returning at SummerSlam, and subsequent promos/segments were the best character work of Lesnar's entire career. The previously awkward mic man suddenly looked comfortable in a speaking role for the first time...ever. It was all knowingly dumb too.

WWE and Brock were in on the silliness, but he still retained menace by frantically switching between good natured and scary whenever needed. That was important. 2021 was littered with doubts - fans scoffed at thoughts Lesnar could balance comedy with intensity, but he pulled it off.

It looks like some of that range Paul Heyman is known for finally rubbed off on his longtime client.
