10 Dumbest Decisions Made By Seemingly Intelligent Wrestlers
8. John Cena Sets A Date For His Cash-In
The Doctor of Thuganomics has been responsible for his fair share of well-thought out plans during his WWE tenure.
Be it using his chain to gain an advantage over Big Show at WrestleMania XX or using secret footage to cause a fracture between the 'World's Largest Athlete' and World Heavyweight Champion Edge in the lead up to the three's 'Mania XXV showdown, Cena has often found a way to outsmart his opponents when the time has called for it.
However, that wasn't the case when Cena decided to completely show his hand after winning the WWE Champions Only Money in the Bank ladder match in 2012.
Instead of holding onto the briefcase and using it as a constant source of dread for whichever poor soul held a world title at that moment, Cena strutted out on Monday Night Raw - the night after he'd won the briefcase - and challenged WWE Champion CM Punk to a title match at Raw 1000, a week later.
This gave CM Punk a week to prepare for Cena's challenge and when the two did eventually meet at the milestone episode of Raw, Big Show chose to interfere and cost Cena the match.
Had Cena just used the briefcase at an unexpected moment when Punk was most vulnerable, he could have held his beloved WWE title once more. Yet, he instead opted for the honourable (and dumb) approach of a pre-scheduled match-up and would become the first man to lose a cash-in as a result of his hubris.
