10 Dumbest Decisions Made By Seemingly Intelligent Wrestlers

7. Asuka Is Duped By James Ellsworth

James Ellsworth is not an evil genius.

No disrespect to the guy, but in his appearances throughout his odd WWE career before Money in the Bank 2018, he'd only ever found success by sheer coincidence or through no fault of his own.

So, to be duped by the same dude who once thought it would be a good idea to cost Braun Strowman his place in a Survivor Series tag match, was just plain embarrassing above anything else.

With all that in mind, after winning the first ever women's Royal Rumble and unfortunately losing to SmackDown women's champ Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 34, you'd have thought that Asuka would have been firing on all cylinders in order to prove she could still be the same unstoppable force of old.

The fact that she would be getting another shot at title glory against Carmella - a star who simply didn't possess the same level of in-ring prowess as the 'Empress of Tomorrow' - also should have focused the former undefeated NXT Women's Champion in her quest to reestablish herself as a legitimate threat.

Yet at the MITB event, the once master of intimidation and mind games fell victim to one of WWE's oldest tricks in the book - the random distraction.

Ellsworth, decked in Asuka-esque clothing, hopped onto the apron and stared at Asuka, before revealing himself from underneath one of her traditional masks.

Yep, that was enough to catch the once all-conquering Asuka off-guard and open the door for Carmella to catch her with a winning-blow.

How the mighty fall.
